Take a look back over 2006-2007 with the Friends:
Music on the Steps
This summer’s 22nd annual Music on the Steps, June through August, drew steady crowds with chairs and blankets and enthusiasm for band music ranging from the blues to bluegrass. Get your chair ready for another exciting line up next year!
In the News in 2006-07
The Library of Virginia was proud to show off the Montross branch in August to representatives from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a grantmaking federal agency supporting museums and libraries, as an excellent example of a small library that effectively connects people to information and ideas. Good job!
Salem Church Branch
On November 8, 2005, Spotsylvania voters approved a public bond referendum question to fund a 10,000 square foot addition to the Salem Church Branch library. That effort is about to become reality -- work is scheduled to begin this Fall, with the full branch reopening in 2009.
The Friends of the Library recently partnered with the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts to sponsor Uniquely Stafford, a
juried exhibit of paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs featuring a Stafford County theme. The exhibit hung at Porter Branch and was enthusiastically received.

Friends and Books Shops

From the Director
These are exciting times for the CRRL region! The upcoming expansion of the Salem Church branch and a new branch in
Stafford will provide wonderful new public spaces with expanded resources for our increasingly busy and diverse communities.
The library is also reaching out beyond its walls with dynamic outreach programs, partnerships, and a growing online presence. People are visiting the CRRL network at LibraryPoint.org twenty four hours a day to access powerful information databases, browse the catalog, reserve books, view art exhibits, and download audio and e-books.
The library continues to offer the traditional beloved services. Many of our most popular programs are sponsored by the Friends of the
Library...musical programs, art exhibits, and film screenings. The quiet behind the scenes effort of the Friends—and the famous Friends’ book sales—are responsible for many of the new furnishings, displays, and equipment found throughout the system. Your support is invaluable.
